With so many wonderful dessert destinations in town, it’s only right that we compile a list of some of the best. That way, you can treat yourself to a donut, cupcake, ice cream cone, frozen yogurt cup, or a pastry when the next sugar craving strikes!
DONUTS
Holey Toledough
Holey Toledough is crafting gourmet doughnuts and serving them up all over the Northwestern Ohio and Southwestern Michigan region. Chef Chris Ritter creates these famous doughnuts, which are then delivered within hours of coming out of the fryer. They have quite the lineup of delectable flavors, including macadamia nuts with blackberry compote, crème brulee with strawberry-infused prosecco, and their ever-popular maple bacon doughnut.
Wixey Bakery
Wixey Bakery has been a part of Toledo’s history for over 80 years, using the same recipes and handcrafting techniques passed down from generation to generation. In fact, this local bakery has been family-owned and operated since day one! Taste their incredible raised donuts, including regular glazed, glazed krullers, chocolate, sprinkles and fritters. Or try their fry cakes or danish donuts, each featuring a large number of different flavors.

Black Kite Coffee and Pies
Arguably one of the best combinations is a cup of coffee and a sweet treat. There’s something about the contrast of sweet flavors of the dessert and the rich, hot coffee that will send your taste buds into overdrive. Black Kite Coffee and Pies is a great place to experience such a pair, as they serve their exceptional coffee in conjunction with a wide assortment of food — including sweet treats.
This independent and locally owned coffee house has been serving the Old West End neighborhood with exceptional service and products since 2012.
